Deflagration gas inline flame arresters

A flame arrester is a safety device used to stop the flame spread of flammable gases and flammable liquid vapors. It is generally installed in pipelines transporting combustible gases, or on ventilated tanks to prevent the spread of flames (deflagration or detonation).

Flame arresters are also commonly used in pipelines carrying flammable gases. If the flammable gas is ignited, the gas flame will spread throughout the pipe network. In order to prevent this danger, flame arresters should also be used. Flame arresters can also be used in pipelines with open flame equipment to prevent backfiring accidents. However, it does not prevent open flame combustion of flammable gases and liquids.

There are two main viewpoints on the working principle of the flame arrester: one is based on heat transfer; One is based on the wall effect.

Anti-deflagration flame arrester: can prevent the subsonic transmission of the explosion flame through;

General selection principle

(1) The selected flame arrester, its safety flame resistance speed should be greater than the installation position may achieve the flame propagation speed.

2. The combustible gas transmission pipeline connected with the burner should be equipped with a flame arrester when there are no other anti-tempering facilities.

3. To prevent the flame propagating at subsonic speed, the deflagration type flame arrester should be used, and its installation position should be close to the fire source;

4. To prevent the flame from spreading at the speed of sound or supersonic speed, the explosion-retarding type flame arrester should be used, and the installation position should be away from the fire source.
